The winner of the FGH Real Estate Award 2008 for daring entrepreneurship in the Dutch real estate market will be announced on 10 November at the Beatrix Theatre in Utrecht. From some 20 entries, the jury has shortlisted three projects for this biennial award, which this year will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The following projects have been nominated (in alphabetical order):
- Entre Deux, Maastricht: the redevelopment of a dilapidated shopping area into an accessible shopping street of high urban and architectural quality.
Initiator/developer: 3W Vastgoed bv / Multi Vastgoed bv
- Kraanspoor, Amsterdam: the redevelopment of the crane track at the former NDSM wharf into a high-quality, industrially designed office location for companies in the creative industries sector.
Initiator/developer: ING Real Estate Development
- Musiskwartier, Arnhem: the redevelopment of a run-down central area into a valuable city centre location.
Initiator/ontwikkelaar: Multi Vastgoed
After two evaluation rounds, these three projects have been nominated by the independent jury. The eight members of the jury represent leading organisations in the real estate sector. Consequently, the jury members are drawn from various fields and assess the projects from their own particular perspectives. The FGH Real Estate Award rewards distinguished initiatives in the real estate market, and for initiators, it is due recognition for daring, vision and entrepreneurship in the realisation of real estate projects. In addition, the jury evaluates to what extent an initiative demonstrates a sound project economy and an acceptable project risk. Finally, criteria such as architecture, sustainability and impact on society also play a role.
The FGH Real Estate Award was established in 1989 by FGH Bank and was first awarded in 1990. Entry is open to real estate projects within the Netherlands, which have been put into use in the two years preceding the year of presentation and that have a minimum floor area of 5000 m2. New developments as well as redevelopment and renovation projects are eligible.
